Why People Explore TRE®

Life brings challenges. Stress is a natural part of being human.

Our nervous systems help us respond, adapt, and recover. Sometimes stress can leave us feeling tense, overwhelmed, disconnected from our bodies, or unable to fully relax—even when we know we are safe.

Many people explore TRE® because they notice:

  • difficulty relaxing or settling down

  • feeling like their mind or body is always “on”

  • physical tension in areas such as the neck, shoulders, jaw, back, or hips

  • difficulty letting go of stress

  • feeling disconnected from their body

You do not need to have a specific diagnosis or major life event to explore TRE®. Many people begin because they want to feel more relaxed, connected, and at ease in their bodies.

What Is TRE®?

TRE® stands for Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises®.

Developed by Dr. David Berceli, TRE® is a series of simple physical exercises designed to help people access the body’s natural shaking or trembling response.

TRE® is learned gradually. Participants learn how to notice their body’s responses and practice in a way that supports self-regulation.

What to Expect in a Learn TRE® Class

Classes include:

  • an introduction to TRE® and nervous system regulation

  • guided instruction through the exercises

  • time to explore the tremoring process

  • support in noticing and responding to your experience

  • end-of-class integration

You do not need previous experience with meditation, yoga, breathwork, or body-based practices.

You will be encouraged to listen to your body, move at your own pace, and pause or rest whenever needed.
